Uploading the POI-list

  1. In the Map Editor, click Points of Interest menu followed by POI Import.

2. Click the green button shown below to add a new listconfiguration.

3. A dialogue box will appear. Click and download the appropriate template (NB: “Floorplan Label Configuration” for standard POI list using CAD data to match the room data with the room polygons).

Fill it in. Save the said list in on your drive in Excel format. Follow the instructions shown below to upload your list.

4. Click the “Upload File button” and you’ll be directed to your drive to choose a file to uploadlocate the POI list.

5. This screen showing After uploading the POI list the spreadsheet will appear as below. Drag and drop the blue feature (blue) tiles labels to each column header (i.e. , External ID, Floorplan Label or what is commonly called as POI TitleRoom ID in CAD, Type of room (category), Searchable names, Description, URL).

NB: The header “Text shown in map” sets the title of the POI and gets the highest priority (in terms of visibility and searchability) while the header “Type of Room” lets you set or even create the category/type of the POIYou can drag the “Searchable Name” label to multiple columns to make more more names searchable per POI.
Note that the names in one searchable name column will be used as the title of the POI in the POI card (when a POI has been clicked). This column has the highest priority set in the JSON config. Your CSM can help you out with getting the JSON priorities right.

NB: This is a screenshot of the Information box of a POI in use.mazemap.com. While most of the data/information from the other columns go directly to the floorplan configuration, those in the URL and Description columns as shown above, go directly to this POI Information box, thus, turning an ordinary POI into a Rich POI.

If there are more than one building in the campus, POI prefixes need to be set on the POI import main page. Typically the POI-prefix is the building ID, and the Floor Prefix label is to applied to the building ID column in the POI list.

6. Don’t forget to click “Save changes as new version” on the left side bar, as shown on the screenshot of the spreadsheet above. Then go back to the Point of Interest sub-menu, click “Run Update”. Follow the steps below to finish the update.

7. Click “Import POI data”.
A dialogue box would will appear and will show the potential changes when you run a POI import after updating your POI-list. number of POI changes.
If it looks correct then click “Perform POI Import”. Once the POI import is finished the changes from the POI-list should will appear in Map Editor.

Please note that if you change a POI Type all POIs associated with that type will be changed and will show in the report.

8. When you are satisfied with the changes and you are ready to implement them in productionfor them to go live, click “Start publish process” and all these changes will be visible in the map (MazeMap app / use.mazemap.com)live map.
