The map making process is automatic and the required input is a DWG-file.
In theory MazeMap can work with all DWG-files, but the result and quality of the maps is dependent on the files we received from the customers.
What gives the best results is when the file has:
...
- all all rooms have unique labels, constructive elements like walls, stairs, elevators, doors and room labels have in a specific separate layer for each, walls have thresholds,
- all rooms have unique labels
- all labels are inside room boundaries they are attached to
- furniture is in a separate layer from all the other elements
- polyline (outline) boundary for each room / zone / searchable space - AutoCAD drawings often contain area polylines. This is not strictly necessary,
- no attribute blocks, 3d faces and hatch; and
- no external referencesbut can speed up our automatic room recognition significantly.
- walls have thresholds
- separate file per each floorplan of the building
- no hidden layers and noise
- Unit set to meters
- AutoCAD regions
- Proprietary ADT or ARX objects
- 3D faces
- XREFs - all needed information for one floorplan should be in one drawing
- Faces
- Dimensions
- Attributes, or Attribute blocks
If file consists any useful information in this kind of elements - we will have to extract it manually by using AutoCAD.
Therefore please request to prepare files before sending.
It is possible to process DWG-files that don’t separate the information above in different layers, but it requires more manual work on the DWG-files before we can start processing them. This also applies if an element in the list above is used together with the following CAD types. We therefore recommend not using these types:
- AutoCAD regions
- Proprietary ADT or ARX objects
- 3D faces
- XREFs
- Faces
- Dimensions
- Attributes, or Attribute blocks
- Solids
The cleaner and less noisy the DWG is - the better result we can produce.
