Map Views
A campus can have more than one map view of the same campus where information can be visualised differently or be hidden. In this way the maps are adaptable to different user groups and it is easy to handle what map a user can access and which information the user will see.
This introduction will help to understand some of the terms used in this section and at the same time will describe the differences between a main map and additional map views.
Base Map
“Base Map” is the name of the main map which will be created by processing the floorplans of a building. The base map is always placed on the top of the campus overview and it is easy to identify it by the name as you can see below:
All buildings/floors can be edited here and by default it will get the public map link (which looks like https://use.mazemap.com/?campusid=). At the same time, the base map is also the origin for every additional map view.
Additional Campus Map Views
An additional map view is basically a copy of the “Base Map” which includes the same information and looks exactly the same when created. In this way all the POIs of the base map and every additional map view are connected to each other. This makes it possible to propagate POI edits on a base map automatically down to all “map views” and it is easier to maintain the maps because you don't have to make changes all over again. That “copy” from the base map (in other words the map view) can be used to make further individual adjustments like for example overwriting information, hiding information, changing the visualisation and more. Basically, you can create a “different looking” version of the base map. This means that in the map view the same tools (Points of Interest, Paths ….) as in the base map are available. Thus there are some limitations inside the tools which will be explained in the next sections.
