The "Points of Interest"-section on a map view

This part will show you how the “Points of Interest”-section looks like on map views and will point out the differences between a base map and map views a bit more in detail. As you can see by comparing both maps, they have the same main sections, and therefore a lot of things can be adjusted, so you can create a complete new version of the base map.

Points of Interest

By clicking on “Points of Interest” it is possible to adjust the “Points of Interest” on a map view. The user interface looks exactly the same as on the base map but not everything works in the same way.

Before we go into detail about direct POI-adjustments it is important to understand what is different compared to the base map in this user interface.

POI Types

By clicking on “POI Types” a list of all POI types which were created on the base map will open.

Please be aware that:

  • this list shows basically all the POI types which have been created and thus existing on the base map.

  • POI Types can not be added to a map view which means a map view can not have its own POI types.

  • additional POI types must be added to the base map and will be valid for the base map and all map views as well.

  • the appearance of a POI type can not be changed on a map view only. The appearance can be changed on a base map and will affect all map views.

This does not mean that a POI on a map view will always need to have the same POI Type which was given to it on the base map or even a POI Type in general. It is e.g. possible to remove a POI Type on a single POI, so it will not be connected to it on a map view. You will find more details about how this can be achieved under “Local View POI”.

One thing which is adjustable for every map view is which POI types are appearing in the category list on the live map.

When creating a map view, the POI types will by default not appear in the category section on this map. Therefore, you would need to tick the box “Selectable in app menu” for each POI type which should appear. This can be a bit confusing since you can not change or add “POI Types” on a map view.

After publishing the map view the selected “POI Types” should appear in the category list of the map.

POI Import

At the moment it is not possible to upload a separate POI list to a map view. Clicking on “POI Import” on a map view will open a window with the following information:

This means a POI list can only be uploaded to the base map and its information is valid for additional map views but can be hidden or not propagated to a map view.

Reports

This section can not be used on a map view!

It is possibly to report a problem on the map of a map view but the report will not appear in the admin tool. Instead it will appear on the reports section of the base map. Please check the following example:

When clicking on a POI in the map, a pop-up box will open. This box includes a report flag, where it is possible to report a problem.

After clicking on the flag another box will open, where it is possible to describe the problem.

After clicking on send, the report will be sent to the admin tool (base map) and and appear there:

Run Update

Run Update” can be used to publish a map view in the same way it works on the base map. In addition, to the “Run Update” section is a “Start publish progress”-button existing on the map view main overview which let you publish changes even faster.

Create POI

It is possible to create new POIs (which are not existing on the drawings), POI area or Grid of POIs for each map view. These POIs will “only” exist on a map view and not on the base map.
