When QA’ing the maps, there are four primary things to look at:

  1. The

...

  1. Polygons

  2. Room ID

  3. Room data / POI List

  4. Paths

This page helps you get started on the QA process and outlines in which cases an error needs to be solved by you/the customer or by MazeMap.

Please scroll to the bottom to see how to submit a QA support ticket or click here

1. The

Polygons

Our processing tool is powerful and accurate, but the output depends on the quality of the input (the CAD file). There might be cases where our processing tool misinterprets a drawing.

...

Info

If there’s an incorrect polygon, please make sure that the CAD file is indeed correct. If the drawing is correct, please submit a QA ticket with a description of the issue (see below).

If the drawing is incorrect, please fix it and submit a QA ticket with the updated drawing attached and a description of the issue.

2. Room ID

As indicated in the How to Prepare a CAD file for import into MazeMap Admin Tool document, there must be a one unique room ID for each polygon in a drawing.

...

  • If there's incorrect data under POI names, check if the "Floor plan parsed" name (room ID) is correct. Hover the mouse over the POI names to see which one is the name that comes from the floor plan room ID.

In this case it is 130:

...

Info

If the "Floor plan parsed" name is missing or incorrect, check if the room ID in the CAD file for this room is missing

...

/incorrect or if there are multiple room IDs inside the room polygon.

  • If it is incorrect

...

  • /missing/more than one, please fix the CAD file and attach it to a QA support ticket.

  • If the room ID is not missing/incorrect in the CAD file, please submit a QA support ticket and describe the issue.

3. Room Data / POI list

If the "Floor plan parsed" name/room ID is correct, please check the other POI names that come from the POI list. Hover the mouse over the POI names to locate the names from “Excel data”.

311-130 in this case:

...

If the names coming from "Excel Data" (the POI list) are incorrect or missing, check the POI list to make sure that an entry for this room exists.

Info
  • If the entry does not exist or is incorrect, please fix the POI list and reupload the updated version. Remember to run an update to import POI data.

  • If the POI list entry for the room in question exists and is correct, check if there are multiple identical room IDs in the same building (our system will only match the POI list data with one of them).

Please note that the POI title is not necessarily the same as the text shown in map. This depends on the setup in the POI list.

You can find more info about POI lists here https://mazemap.atlassian.net/l/c/j8vLiY7X and here https://mazemap.atlassian.net/l/c/hZL2d9mo

In case all of the following has been checked but something is still wrong, there might be a problem that will need to be handled by MazeMap:

  • If there is a correct room ID in the CAD file for the room in question, AND

  • there is only one room ID inside the room polygon, AND

  • the room ID is unique in the building (check all floors), AND

  • if there is an entry for that room ID in the POI list.

4. Paths

We’ve created the path networks inside buildings and outdoors. However, without local on-the-ground knowledge, it’s important that you QA the paths. If you find a path issue, it’s easy to fix it in the path editor (see link below).

...

  • Make sure that the paths are correct and follows foot paths and follow footpaths (not roads for vehicles. )

  • Check that stairs and ramps (both in buildings and outdoors) are marked as “Obstructions for wheelchairs”

Click on a building in the map or select a building in the selector here:

...

  • Make sure that there’s a node in each room and that floors are connected via stairs/lifts:

  • Make sure that the path network uses the correct exits/entries (beware of emergency exits):

You can test a path inside the path editor:

...

You’ve now checked that the polygon shapes, room ID and , room data and paths are correct. Depending on where you are in the mapping process, you might want to QA the following at the same time or at a later stage:

  • Correct POI type

  • Correct linkable identifier/tag (unique location code for each room) if applicable.

Tip

How to submit a QA support ticket

Please only submit one ticket per building, so you’ll need to do a full review of one building and then compile everything in one ticket.

Send an email to support@mazemap.com with the following format in the subject line: QA (Campus name) - (Building name) - (date)

For each amendment, please describe the issue and insert a link to the exact location (e.g. https://use.mazemap.com/#v=1&zlevel=1&center=10.407365,63.432811&zoom=19&campusid=47&sharepoitype=poi&sharepoi=1000469645&utm_medium=longurl )

Please provide a snippet/screenshot with red markings in case polygon shapes are incorrect.
