What is a path?

Path is a route which connects 2 certain points on the map. It help users get from A to B by displaying the appropriate route in the map.

In MazeMap you can use the Path Tool in Map Editor to add or/and manage the Paths at your campus.

Below you can find more useful information, including tutorials about Path Tool.

How to create a path?

Creating a path is a simple process. In Path Tool there is a small menu with the following options:

  • Select/Move - it allows you to click on certain building or room

  • Draw Path - it allows you to draw a path.

  • Eraser - thanks to that option you can delete already existing path.

If you want to draw a path, you select Draw Path option and then click on the space where the route is about to be created. To end a path, you need to click Enter. Newly created path is green. Remember to save changes on the left side bar.

Stairs & Elevators

Stairs and elevators are created in very similar way. There are 2 ways of doing that:

  • automatic path generation - Form the left side bar called Automatic Path Generation select option Generate paths between floors in building. It’s very important so every elevator and stair polygon has a path node (marked in red circles). Because of that they can be connected within all floorplans.

  • manual path generation - please see the video below.

Connecting buildings

In a situation when buildings are connected, we also need to cennect paths between them. Please see the video, so you know how to do that.

Discouraging paths

After generating paths and testing them, you will see that sometimes the path selected by the system is not the most efficient one or simply there are business reason why it shoul be different. For example: you would like it to led next to the hotel shop, so your customers would have a chance to do shopping on their way to the room. Because of that we have discourage path option. You can manually discourage a path and the system will choose another one when creating a route.
