Prerequisites
To access the Kiosk Manager, you’ll need:
A MazeMap Admin Account.
The Kiosk Manager Role assigned to your account. If you don’t have this role, contact your MazeMap Administrator or Customer Success Manager for assistance.
Kiosk Interface Configurations
1. Open the Kiosk Editor
In the Kiosk Manager, find the Kiosk you want to configure and click EDIT. This opens the Kiosk Editor, where you can customise the Kiosk’s interface and display options.
2. Set Kiosk Name (Required)
MazeMap supports providing a Kiosk name which is used to be able to identify a Kiosk in the Kiosk Manager as well as in analytics. Use a name that helps identify the location of the Kiosk, such as, Building | Floor | Point of Interest | Location.
Steps:
a. Hover to the left of the Kiosk name and click on the pencil.
b. This makes the Kiosk name editable. Click on the Kiosk name, and update the name.
c. Click anywhere on the page to exit the edit mode.
d. The Kiosk preview will reload, with the new Kiosk Name.
3. Set the Kiosk Language (Optional)
MazeMap supports several languages for the Kiosk interface, including Norwegian, Swedish, German, and Finnish.
Note at present, there is no ability for a that users cannot switch languages on the Kiosk interface itself—this must be set in the Admin Tool.
Steps:
a. From the Language dropdown menu, and select the desired language for the Kiosk interface.
b. The preview will reload, with the Kiosk interface in the selected language.
4. Set or Update the Initial Map View (Required)
The “Initial Map View” is the default map position that the Kiosk returns on load and refresh. Adjusting this view allows you to set the ideal zoom level, center point, and orientation for users.
Steps:
a. In the Kiosk Interface preview on the right, adjust the map to the desired view by setting the zoom level, map center, rotation, and bearing.
b. Click Use current view as the initial map view to save this view.
c. The preview will reload, with the new initial view shown.
5. Place or Move the “You Are Here” Marker (Required)
The “You Are Here” marker indicates the physical location of the Kiosk. This marker is used as the starting point for all routes generated from the Kiosk.
Steps:
a. Click the Move the “You Are Here” marker button in the menu.
b. Navigate to the location of the kiosk on the preview interface, ensuring the correct floor is selected.
c. Once found, click on the map the physical location of the Kiosk.
d. The preview will reload, with the new You Are Here” marker location shown.
6. Add WebApp Config Tag (MazeMap Only)
At present, the WebApp config tag can only be set by MazeMap Support.
This WebApp Config determines which configuration is used for the Kiosk and when sharing a route by generating a QR code that users can scan to access maps on their devices.
To request a WebApp config tag to be added, please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) for assistance.
7. Disable Short Links (Optional)
Enabled by Default
MazeMap provides short links for QR codes, but you can disable them to use the full URL in QR codes instead. This may make the QR code denser but shows the complete URL to users.

Steps:
a. Check the Disable short links checkbox to switch to the full URL.
b. The preview will reload
8. Enable 3D Maps (Optional)
Disabled by default.
Enabling 3D rendering provides a more realistic map view with building walls, 3D extrusions, and any 3D assets included on your map.
Steps:
a. Toggle the Enable 3D maps checkbox to turn on/off 3D view.
b. The preview will reload, with the walls extruded.
9. Changing the Kiosk Interface Color (Optional)
Color theme #4C4F65 is set by default.
The Theme Primary Colour lets you customise the Kiosk interface colors to match your organisation’s branding. You can choose a colour from the palette or enter a specific hex code.
Steps:
a. Click the colour square next to Theme Primary Colour to open the Colour Picker.
b. Select a colour from the palette or enter a hex code (in the format #RRGGBB
).
c. The preview will reload, showing the updated Kiosk interface colour.
10. Layout Orientation and Accessibility Button (Required)
MazeMap supports both Portrait and Landscape orientations for the Kiosk, allowing you to tailor the display for different screen setups.
When in Portrait mode, you have the option to customize the height of the menu bar, giving you control over how much vertical space it occupies. You can specify the height in pixels (e.g., 500px
), as a percentage of the viewport height (e.g., 40vh
), or set it to auto
to adjust automatically based on the content.
Additionally, you can enable the Accessible Layout Button to position UI elements at the bottom of the screen, enhancing usability.
Steps:
a. Expand Layout Options in the Kiosk Editor.
b. Select either Portrait or Landscape orientation.
If Portrait orientation is selected.
c) you can edit the height of the menu bar under the Edit menu height in portrait mode setting.
d.The preview will refresh to reflect your layout choices.
To enable the Accessible Layout Button:
e. Toggle the Show "accessible layout" toggle button checkbox.
f. The preview will refresh to reflect your layout choices.
11. Enable the On-Screen Keyboard (Optional)
Disabled by default.
MazeMap provides an on-screen keyboard for text input when users click the search box. Important: If you enable this, ensure the device’s own on-screen keyboard is disabled to prevent conflicts (e.g., in Windows 10, enable Touch Mode and disable the system keyboard).
Steps:
a. Expand Keyboard Options in the Kiosk Editor.
b. Check the Enable on-screen keyboard checkbox to activate or deactivate the MazeMap keyboard.
c. The preview will refresh to reflect your layout choices.

Troubleshooting
If the Kiosk preview doesn’t display changes correctly:
Click Hard reload Kiosk Preview to refresh the preview and apply recent updates.
