This user guide gives an overview on how the new directions in MazeMap work. The directions include basic navigation within a campus in addition to navigation to/from a campus using bicycle, car or public transit.    

Basic direction within the campus

If you what to get a direction from one POI to another follow the steps bellow: 

Step 1:

Click on the desired ending point in the map. You will get up a box that gives you a menu as shown by the first picture below. Click on the "Directions" button.  This information can be shared by clicking ,a box as shown by the second picture below will come up.

Step 2:

After clicking on the "Directions" button you will get a menu on the left hand side on the screen.  You can see that your ending point is already filled out. You can select the starting point by clicking in the map. You can zoom in/out and select different floors and buildings as normal. When you have found your staring point, click in the map.  

Step 3:

The path will be shown in the map as a blue line. It turns grey to illustrate that you will need to go to a different floor. You will also get some simple instructions in the menu. Customers that have the option Navigation for blind also will get the blue button "Instructions" located at the bottom of the menu. Press this button to get detailed directions. 

It is possible to chose your preferred way of getting from A to B, but in this basic example within a campus walking will most likely be the preferred way. 

Step 4:

For customers that have accessibility routing in their maps, this option is then available for their end-users.  Just tick the "Avoid stairs and obstacles" box in case you want to see the accessible route for your destination. By clicking on the "Options" in the drop-down menu, you will be shown the accessible paths option again and you can set the distance units to either meters or feet. 

Directions to/from campus

When you click the direction button, the details of your suggested route comes up. For desktop and laptop users, this comes out as a sidebar (as shown on the screenshot above).

• Please note that for our end-users who use our app in their mobile phones or tablets for navigation, this comes out on top, which moves down when you click the "Navigate" button. (as shown below)

On top of this information box shows the start and the end point of your route. Below it is a tick box for accessible path and to its right is the pull-down Options button which allows you to choose accessible paths and the distance units you prefer. 

You can also query the reverse route by clicking . 

NB: It is important to have your course either originate or terminate anywhere in the campus to get a better navigation route suggested to you.  The Public transit option, specifically, will only return the first available transit route.

Walk

MazeMap navigation defaults on the walking route as indicated by  . It also defaults to the ordinary walking route so you have to check the options menu if you want only the accessible route to be suggested to you.

It shows the estimated time and distance that would take you to walk from A to B.  

NB:  In case the route (or some parts of your route) does not have accessible path, you will still get a suggested route but a notification  as shown in the second picture will prompt you.

Below are the additional routes Bicycle, Car and Public Transit that the new MazeMap interface introduced recently.

Bicycle

When you click , it will show the estimated time and distance that will take you to bicycle the route from A to B that you have chosen. If your starting point or ending point or both are inside a building, it will also show which part is a walking part of the route and which is the riding part.

Car

When you click  the car routing option will be given to you.  The result is similar to the Bicycle option, only with the motor vehicle driving route specified.

Public transit

When you click , then the suggested course will include the first available public transit route at the time when the query was made.
