POI Import for External POIs
Questions:
Can I bulk upload a list of POIs to my map?
How to create multiple outdoor POIs at once?
Answer: Upload the template provided in the Map Editor by following the steps below. You must have the longitude and latitude of each POI in order to do this.
To find out the longitude and latitude of a specific POI, you can also use our POI Inspector tool: The POI Inspector tool
Please take note that this procedure is ONLY for external/outdoor POIs and does not cover POIs with long-lat (x-y) coordinates as the code for this specific feature doesn’t have Z level information that would place the POI on the right floor level. (POIs with long-lat coordinates would appear in all floors, in case you try to put them in.
In the Map Editor, click on your campus building on the map followed by POI Import.
2. Select the green button shown below to add a new list.
3. A dialogue box will appear. Click and download the appropriate template (NB: “Floorplan Label Configuration” for standard POI list using CAD data or “External ID Configuration” for POI list using long-lat geographic coordinates). Fill it in. Save the said list in your drive. Follow the instructions shown below to upload your list.
4. Click the “Upload File button and you’ll be directed to your drive to choose a file to upload.
5. This screen showing the spreadsheet will appear. Start placing the feature (blue) tiles to each column header (i.e., External ID, Longitude, Latitude, Type of room, Searchable name, Description, URL).
External IDs are your internal reference numbers for the POIs. However, they work in the Admin Tool as identifiers, so if you don’t have such reference numbers, unique random numbers will work.
Please use at least 6 decimal digits (preferably 13) after the decimal point for your longitude and latitude coordinates to achieve between 0.4 mm and 4.5 mm accuracy on the map.
6. Don’t forget to click “Save changes as new version”. Then go back to the Point of Interest sub-menu, “ Run Update”
7. You will be directed to the screen below. Click “Import POI data” and the changes will be visible in the Map Editor tool. When you are satisfied with the changes, click “Start publish process”.
8. Your POIs should now appear on your Map.
