Manual POI creation and administration in bulk

This page describes:

There are three kinds of POI data import configurations:

  • Import for floorplan POIs (POIs are created from room IDs in the processed floor plans but maintained in an uploaded spreadsheet)

  • Import for External POIs (POIs are created and maintained from an uploaded spreadsheet, with lat/longs)

  • Import for Manual POIs (POIs are created manually but maintained in an uploaded spreadsheet)

Editing manually created POIs via POI import

It is possible to download all manually created POIs in spreadsheet from the POI Import tool.

Go to “Points of Interests” → “POI Import” and click “Download manual POIs as CSV”

A spreadsheet with all manually created POIs will then be downloaded.

In the spreadsheet all POIs will have a system generated POI ID and you’ll be able to see if the POI is located outdoors or in a building:

You can then edit the POIs in the spreadsheet, save it and reupload it. The changes you’ve made will then be reflected in the maps.

To upload the spreadsheet click the green + button:

Pick the “POI ID Configuration” and give it a name:

Upload the edited spreadsheet in the configuration:

Drag the labels “POI ID”, “Text shown in Map” and “Searchable name” to the correct columns:

Click “Save Changes as new version”.

Go back to POI import and click “Import POI data”

The changes will now be reflected in the Map Editor. Click “Publish” to push to production.

Creating POIs from a spreadsheet with lat/long coordinates

Click the green + button in POI Import

Choose External ID Configuration and give it a name (you can download a template if you don’t have the spreadsheet filled out already).

If you specify a floor, the POI will be placed on that specific floor at the given location set by the coordinates. If you don’t specify a floor, the POI will be placed outdoors.

External IDs have to be set before uploaded the spreadsheet to the configuration (it can be anything, they just have to be unique).

Drag the labels to the corresponding columns:

Click “Save changes as new version”. Go back and click “Import POI data”. Publish to push changes to production.
