How To Add GPS markers to CMX
Step 1: Add GPS markers in Prime
For each map you want to use positioning on, you have to add at least three GPS markers in your Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
It is very important to use coordinates obtained using MazeMap for the GPS markers. Do not use coordinates obtained from other sources such as Google Maps, as these may have different building placements which will cause a loss of accuracy in the positioning service.
To obtain coordinates for the GPS markers:
- Use the following web page: https://debug.mazemap.com/poi-inspector/
- Select the floor you want to create GPS markers for and zoom in if necessary
- Click in the map to find lonlat coordinates for a point. Use easily recognisable points such as corners.
Step 2: Export maps from Cisco Prime, Import in CMX & Restart CMX
This has to be repeated every time you make changes to the maps (including GPS markers) in Cisco Prime.
Remember to restart the CMX after this
Step 3: Restart LIPI service
- SSH into LIPI server
Run the following command as root:
syssudo systemctl restart lipi
Step 4: Check that GPS markers are loaded into LIPI
Check the following web page:
https://<LIPI Address>/gcpdump
This will generate a report of all floors and their GPS markers.
