Review Changes

Changing a POI on the base map can be automatically propagated to a map view. After changing/ adding a POI on the base map, it will affect a map view not before the changes have been published.

When a POI on the base map has changed you will get a notification in the map view overview.

Now it really depends on the set up. If the set up is:

  • Base Map Updates: AUTO → then the changes will be automatically propagated to the map view which means that the POI will automatically change to the same way it appears on the base map. However, it is still possible to review changes because you will still get the notifications of the amount of changes. To make them disappear, you have to go to “Review Changes” and click on “Accept all”. This basically tells the system that “this version of the POI is approved from now on”. This is done to “clean up” the list of changes, and also sets the version that will be used if you want to “roll back” the poi at a later time.

Important Note: Rejecting these changes will roll back the POI to a previous state. This will disconnecting the POI from the base map, which means it will become a local copy which exists only on the map view and will not receive any updates from the base map. So better not reject changes when using the setting “Base Map Updates: AUTO”. It is possible to revert this local copy back and connect it to the base map again.

  • Base Map Updates: MANUAL → then the changes will “not” be automatically propagated to the map view and “need” to be reviewed before they will appear on the map view. What do you need to do to review the changes?

First of all, please click on “Review Changes”. This will open the following page:

You will see an overview over what has changed. The changes are sorted by floors and buildings on the left hand sight.

Selecting a floor will open a list of all the POIs which have changed on the base map. The system will give you a brief description of what has changed, by clicking on it.

In general, all the changes are categorised in:

  • Added POIs - This means a POI was added to the base map.

  • Changed POIs - This means the appearance or the information of a POI in the base map has been changed.

  • Deleted POIs - This means a POI was deleted on the base map.

As you can see in the picture above, a POI has been added on the base map. This POI was given the name “New POI”. It is ready to be reviewed and the map view basically asks you if you want to adapt the change on the map view or if you don't. Rejecting a change means you do not want the update to a specific POI, but want to keep the POI as it is currently in the map view. Accepting a change means you will make the POI look the same as in the Base Map.

There are different possibilities of reviewing the POI changes. If you are aware of the changes and do not want to go trough all of them, then you accept or reject them with one click. You will find a “Reject all”- and a “Accept all”-button on the top where the total POI changes are listed.

  • Accept all = will accept & propagate all changes on the base map

  • Reject all = will reject & propagate all changes on the base map

It is also possible to select several POIs at the same time and either accept or reject them. Therefore, please click on either

  • Accept selected = will accept & propagate the changes on all selected POIs

  • Reject selected = will reject & propagate the changes on all selected POIs

It is also possible to go through every POI one by another and review it. Therefore, please click on a POI. A window with a description will open and let you review the changes:

  • Reject = will reject & propagate the change of one POI

  • Accept change = will accept & propagate the change of one POI

After reviewing the changes, do not forget to click on the “Publish Map”-button to make them appear on the map view.
